CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

More Utah…..

on November 1, 2010

We got to my brother’s house just in time for dinner on Wednesday September 29. After a tour of Steve’s amazing house and a yummy dinner and getting all of our stuff out of the car and down to the basement, I put my cuties to bed!

[Ok, so this big, fat bean bag chair was SUPER comfy!!]

Thursday we had a busy day planned. We started off by visiting my friend Diana. She used to live here but recently moved to Utah to get family help for her recently arrived twins and her 16 month old. It was so fun to see them again and hold those cute little bundle of joys. It was fun to play with Ella again too. The kids had so much fun and we really appreciated them for letting us bring more chaos to their already busy lives. We love you guys!!

[playing wii for a little down time]

[I guess they are doing a lot of this lately….]

[Keri and Ella sharing some fish crackers]

[Jaime had a good time with the babies too!]

As soon as we were done reeking havoc on the Holt’s place, we headed over to another friends house for a short visit. I haven’t seen Niki for a couple of years and boy was it fun to reconnect with her. We had so many good times here in Fremont when they lived here. We had some good times on Thursday too. It was just too short of a visit. But I’m grateful for the time spent.

[These two have grown up so much since taking a swimming class together at 3 years old!]

After our fun times with the Ostler’s we headed back to Steve’s house and enjoyed ANOTHER yummy dinner (thanks Joy, you seriously rock!). My brother had to coach soccer that night and so some of the kids went to watch while I spent the evening putting the little kids to bed. The day was fun, but very exhausting. We had another late night but again worth it. It’s so fun to talk with Steve and Joy and catch up on life and laugh and just enjoy being together. Our kids have always gotten along so well that it’s fun to get together because we don’t have to worry about fighting. That’s refreshing!

Friday morning, October 1, Steve was able to take some time off of work and take us boating! Yep, boating on October 1. Jaime, Milo, Niah and I went. Poor Alix spent the night throwing up! So she stayed home. Luckily it was a one time thing and she was fine for the rest of the trip. I think she just got so exhausted and a bit dehydrated. She missed the boating but it was good for her to rest at home and she didn’t seem to mind too much. She was ready for a day of rest!

We had SO much FUN! Thanks Steve! After a little skiing, knee boarding and swimming, we did LOTS of tubing. It really was a GREAT morning that went by WAY too fast.

[Ever tried to put one of these babies on? Not too fun, but boy do they work wonders in cold water!]

[Jaime enjoys the boat and the water, but is not so sure about being pulled by anything behind the boat in the water. We had her try knee boarding. She never did get up but seemed to enjoy it a little bit…..after Steve got started!]

[Personally, I thought knee boarding rocked!]

[Getting her lesson. Niah didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought she would. Not much of a thrill seeker I guess.]

Milo seriously rocked on the knee board. I was a little hesitant to have him try. Didn’t want him to get too seriously hurt, but he LOVED it. He got on his knees and kept asking to go faster. He was born to ride a knee board apparently!

[Everyone had a good time. Thanks Steve!]

Ok, every one of my stories has to have a down side though….while I was skiing I crashed pretty hard. I fell sideways, which apparently is hard to do. But when I hit the water I felt water plunge into my ear at an incredible speed that I thought I’d never hear again. I was not about to spoil the fun time we were having though so I got back on the boat and kept having fun. By the time we got home the water in my ear was so painful and annoying I decided to do something about it. Well my stubbornness resulted in 4 hours of sitting/laying/jumping whatever to try and get that water out. Alas, it was to no avail. I finally lifted my sore neck and ear and decided to get on with the day. We were suppose to go to a petting farm in the afternoon, but because of my inability to ‘suck it up’ we stayed home and chilled. That may have been the better option. The kids had a chance to rest and Joy had a chance to go grocery shopping. I will say though that the rest of the trip was spent with cotton in my ear and 400mg of Motrin every 6 hours!!

At about 5pm we headed to Joy’s mom’s house for dinner and swimming. The cousins had so much fun swimming together in the tiny spa that offered more warmth than the big pool. It was so funny to see all these little bodies crammed into one spot!

We had another phenomenal dinner and some wonderful company provided by Joy’s family. After swimming and eating we did a kid movie and an adult movie. We tried having everyone watch the same movie, but the adult one turned out to be not quite a kids movie! It turns out that the movie we watched, Scott had watched that day too. That was funny to figure out!

By the time moving watching was over and I started loading kids in the car I realized that I was late to pick up Scott from the airport. Steve and Joy were awesome. They volunteered to take all the kids home and put them to bed while I went and picked up Scott. It was fun see him again after a week and we enjoyed the alone time. We made a Wal Mart trip to pick up some breakfast items so we could repay Steve and Joy for all the yummy food they had been making for us. We got to bed VERY late, but it was nice to reunite as a family!
