CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Alix’s 9th Birthday

on September 13, 2010

Alix celebrated her 9th birthday on August 12. It was such a wonderful day for us all. My sister was here and that helped to make the day even more special for Alix. Scott took Alix and Sara to breakfast. Sara had never been to Google before so it was a wonderful experience for her. She was honored to share Alix’s special time with her. After I picked them up we ran a few last minute errands and then back home. We spent the afternoon getting things ready for the party in the evening.

Alix decided she wanted a Halloween themed cake. Since her birthday is in the summer she tends to have summer themed cakes and she really wanted something different so she picked a Halloween cake.

[What do you think? Halloween’y enough?]

Alix chose a sandwich bar for her birthday. We went all out and got everything you could think of to go on a sub sandwich. We rounded it out with some carrots and watermelon. Thanks Alix, it was super good!!

The kids decorated for Alix’s birthday quite nicely.

She got a pretty good pile of gifts too.

Alix’s birthday was fun and I’m so glad she had a birthday so we could celebrate it.

My top 9 favorite things about Alix (in no particular order):

1- Her smile. She has this enormously contagious smile that makes everyone around her feel so good inside!

2- Her laugh. She has the greatest laugh and that too is quite contagious.

3- Her sense of humor. She loves to tell jokes and does so well. She also LOVES Calvin and Hobbes and actually gets most of the humor (is that good or bad??).

4- Her desire for adventure. She always has a good idea about how to entertain herself next. It usually involves an adventure of one sort or another.

5- Her love of the outdoors. She could be a mountain woman!!

6- Her desire to know if the gospel is true. She is always the first with a clarifying question during scripture study and always has insightful things to say at random times during the day.

7- The love she has for her younger siblings. She still has that “fun” side to her that makes her younger siblings want to play with her constantly. I hope she never out grows that part of her personality.

8- Alix is so thoughtful and unselfish. If she can share something she will. To the point that she has none for herself. Yet, that doesn’t bother her. The thought of making someone else happy is one of her greatest joys!

9- She still loves to snuggle!

[With her birthday money Alix bought a pack of bubble yum. She proceeded to put all the pieces in her mouth at once. Minus one that she shared with Jaime…. She gnawed on that piece for a week. :0)]

Love you Alix!!
