Sami's World

CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Fun with Friends

on August 1, 2010

On Friday July 9, since Scott was going fishing with Afton and Alix, I took the other 4 kids out to Brentwood to visit my friend Erika. We started out by going bowling. That was really fun. Last summer we got bowling passes and bowled almost everyday. This year we didn’t get those passes and so this was our first bowling of the summer. The kids had a good time and it was a good start to the day.

After lunch and swimming we got a call that Erika’s husband’s grandpa was going in for emergency surgery. So Erika’s mother-in-law had to jet to Milpitas. So we had to take Erika’s nephew home who had come to spend the night with his grandma. So we piled all the kids in the car and drove an hour to Stockton. It was a nice drive. The kids sat nicely and Erika and I chatted. Know why the kids sat nicely???

In car movie was pretty cool! After dropping of the nephew we went out to eat at IHOP. That was fun and GOOD!! Especially since it was kids eat free night! Once we finished eating we made the hour drive home. Then Erika found a babysitter for her two younger kids and I drove Erika to meet her mother-in-law so she wouldn’t have to be alone. Kami stayed the night with us. Jaime thought it was pretty cool having her first friend sleep over. I figured under the circumstances it would be fine.

Erika told me while we were driving home that Kami asked what she could do at my house. Erika told her ‘Whatever Sami says is ok is ok with me.’ Then Erika said ‘It’s so nice to send Kami to your house and I know I don’t have to worry about what she does or what she sees’. What a nice compliment. That is the kind of household I want!

The next morning Kami and Jaime made some zucchini bread and then walked to 7-11 to buy a Slurpee. They had a good time and felt very grown up. I was ok with it all and was glad Jaime had a friend to feel grown up with.

Erika picked up Kami early that evening and all was well with grandpa, yay!!
