CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Jaime’s 11

on August 1, 2010

July 8, 2010 marked the birthday of my oldest child. Jaime is now less than a year away from being in young women’s and frankly that scares me! I think about having a child in young women’s and that confirms to me more and more that I am definitely no longer a “young mother” but more of an “experienced mother”. But as long as I can help it, I’ll continue to act like a young mother!!

Jaime started her wonderful day by going to breakfast with Scott. Before I picked her up, the kids and I stopped by the store to buy Jaime a few birthday presents. After we picked up Jaime we went grocery shopping to pick up the last few things I needed for Jaime’s birthday dinner. By the way, that trip reminded me why I don’t take all 6 kids to the grocery store…..

After dropping the kids and the groceries off at home, Jaime and I went to Color Me Mine so she could paint a new plate.

***Tangent*** We went on a field trip to Color Me Mine and after we got Jaime’s plate back I noticed that is was not glazed all the way. So after many weeks I returned it and they re glazed it. When I finally got around to picking it up, Jaime dropped it as she was getting out of the van. She was heart broken. So I told her we’d go make a new one on her birthday.

[Might look like puke, but it tastes GREAT!]

After that we went to the library to return some books and then back home. I frantically ran around and got dinner done and Jaime’s cake decorated. Scott came home and Jaime had a fun time eating her yummy dinner of Chilie Reanole Casserole and Spanish rice. Then we opened presents and ate German chocolate cake and ice cream.

[It didn’t fit Scott either!!]

Roberta and her girls got Jaime a shirt from Justice and it didn’t fit. So I took Jaime, Alix and Sophie over to Justice so Jaime could swap out shirts. She ended up getting a really cute shirt and a mood bracelet for the same price. We then went over to the Half Price Book Store and got some books. We then stopped by the grocery store for one last thing and then headed home! Such a FUN day! Thanks Jaime for having a birthday so we could celebrate!

My 11 favorite things about Jaime (in no particular order):

-She reminds me a lot of me. VERY mature for her age. VERY responsible and takes life a little more seriously than perhaps she should. I can relate to her well!!

-She is an incredible big sister. When one of her younger sister’s starts crying she is the first on the scene to see what is the matter and what she can do to help.

-She knows the value of money and spends it wisely. She has even learned to save for things over a long period of time.

[Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!]

-I know I can ask Jaime to do something and she’ll get it done. I don’t have keep checking on her. I know it’s done and it’s done right!

-She is so smart! She really does have a love of learning and is constantly trying to learn something new to stump me or her dad or her uncles.

-Her smile!

-Her beautiful long hair!

-Her desire to be modest in all things!

-She is a good cook. When she sets her mind to it she can successfully make any recipe.

-She has a GREAT sense of humor

-She loves the Lord and constantly strives to do what is right and she is continually seeking gospel knowledge.

THANK YOU Jaime for joining our family and making our lives better by just being here. We love you!!
