CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

4th of July

on July 12, 2010

We had a fabulous 4th of July weekend. Saturday was spent cleaning. What better way to start a holiday weekend, eh?? We did a good old 4th of July bbq in the backyard. We had corn on the cob, homemade potato salad, bbq’d chicken and ice cream cones for dessert. The missionaries joined the fun.

[My annual Jello Mold of the American Flag. Gotta love traditions!]

Sunday being the Lord’s day we were careful to observe it as best we could while still honoring this great country of ours. Jaime and Milo got ready for church super fast and so they went out and decorated our car with a flag and words to help us get into the spirit. Scott flew the flag outside our home. After church we relaxed and enjoyed the quietness of the day. But what’s a 4th of July without cinnamon rolls? Scott was in the mood for making some of those sweet treats. So after making half the dough into rolls for me, he made the other half into some AWESOME cinnamon rolls and apple/cinnamon rolls. Boy were they GOOD!!

[Thanks babe for the rolls! You are my baking babe!]

[These things were so good…..did I mention that yet?]

Then we cooked up a good ole 4th of July breakfast for dinner. We had pancakes with blue berries and strawberries and whipped topping. We had bacon and eggs and watermelon too. Of course we ended with the Jello mold and more ice cream.

[Jaime made the pancakes.]

[Doesn’t that look so yummy! It sure was yummy!]

What a GREAT day spent with family honoring our freedoms of being in America on a day dedicated to the Lord, He being the reason for this great land and our freedoms.
