CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Father’s Day

on June 27, 2010

I think Scott had a successful father’s day. The kids REALLY wanted to make him breakfast in bed and I knew it wouldn’t work on Sunday morning so we decided to do it Saturday morning. The kids were so excited that Jaime came in and tried to wake me up at 5:30 am. I told her that 6 would be plenty of time.

Jaime and Alix were the first up. They went out right away and picked oranges so we could make fresh squeezed oj. Then they started balling the melons we bought. Milo and Afton woke up and did the juicing. Things came along quite nicely and they even made him a card in between making food.

When the cooking was done Alix had the idea to make a face on the plate. Jaime suggested using our nice plates. Here is the creation:

We had to wake up Niah so she could join in the festivities. We walked upstairs and sang a song while we walked into the room to give dad his breakfast. I think he thought the kids were just coming in to wrestle because here was his response to us:

Once he realized what was going on, he was quite happy! He enjoyed the breakfast and was VERY surprised. The kids were glad they could surprise him.

On actual father’s day Scott got some scrap booked photo sheets of himself when he was young (made by Jaime and Alix) and some candy bar cards with witty things on them (i.e. LOOK who is the best dad ever. Love, Alix). He liked those too. Then he spent the rest of the afternoon/evening cleaning the kitchen for me before he left for a week to do a conference. What a wonderful father and husband he is. He is so thoughtful of us and we are so blessed to have him! We love you!!
