CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Dance Recital

on June 19, 2010

Friday June 4 and Saturday June 5 were Jaime and Niah’s dance recital. It took a little more planning this year having two in the recital especially since Niah was a little nervous about her first time ever on stage.

[The bears the girls got from Grandma Ackerman and Auntie Sara. They loved them!]

Of course they both did fabulous and enjoyed every minute of their recital. At one point Jaime made a comment ‘But this is my dance recital’. In the which I reminded her that it was Niah’s recital too. I think it hit her for the first time that she would have to share this recital. Something she has never had to do before. For the last 5 years, dance recital has been all about Jaime all weekend. Can I tell you that she handled it very well.

She stepped aside and let Niah get flowers on opening night without even a complaint. She took pictures with her sister and hugged her between performances even though she wasn’t quite sure if that was cool or not….. I was VERY pleased with Jaime and her maturity with giving up the spotlight in the family.

[The more mature dancer with the cute little ballerina! Niah seriously worships Jaime. They are so lucky to have each other.]

Niah got to do the final bow for her class performance. She did a fabulous job. She knew all the steps VERY well and smiled the whole time. She said that she was very nervous before going out on stage but once she got there felt fine. It was cute to hear her say it. Niah did one dance to the song ‘The Good Ship Lollipop’.

[The first of many!]

Jaime was in 3 dances; 1-‘Bad’, by Micheal Jackson 2-‘Everything Old is New Again’ and 3-‘Can, Can, Can’. She did well in all her dances as usual! I even got some of the same comments about how Jaime is the best in her class. I think she is too. She knew the steps well and smiled the whole time.

[This was Jaime’s 6th performance under Mrs. Gentry. I love looking back on the photos and seeing how much Jaime has grown each year. Someday I hope to put them all into a book that she can flip through and remember her wonderful dance teacher!]
