CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Memorial Weekend Fun #2

on June 10, 2010

Since the kids were pretty bummed about missing out on camping we decided to camp in the backyard. It was far from a “normal” camping trip but fun none the less. We made the rule that when the camping trip started we could only come into the house for the bathroom or for the refrigerator. Everything else was outside and that is where we had to stay.

[Sett’n up the tent]

[Getting the bedding arranged]

[Super yummy dinner of bbq’d hot dogs and hamburgers!]

[What’s camping without a camp fire and smores?]

The night was interesting. We bedded down about 10pm. At 11:30pm when Keri was still walking around the tent (we opted not to use the port a crib so we would only have to set up one tent) I took her inside to sleep in her crib. Best idea!! The rest of the clan slept pretty good. I didn’t sleep too well, but I never do when I camp. But somehow I always feel refreshed in the morning. Guess it’s the fresh night air….

[The morning was actually quite cold. But it was fun to build a fire and have hot chocolate. Wow, hot chocolate in May!]

[Yummy sausage and egg breakfast over the fire. It was SOOOO good!]

All in all a VERY successful camping trip. The kids got their camping fix and Scott and I didn’t have to go very far. I have to note….Niah thought this was the worst idea she had ever heard of. She said she would not sleep in the backyard in the tent. She wanted to go camping. After the camping trip was over we asked her how she felt. She said she loved it and wanted to do it again. So glad we could change her mind. We all had fun too!
