CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Memorial Weekend Fun #1

on June 10, 2010

So we were suppose to go camping over Memorial Day weekend. We were going to go the Y.W.’s camp and help clear trails and clean bathrooms in preparation for their camping week later in June. However, the day before we were suppose to go the weather was not looking too good. On Thursday night (May 27) the camp got 8 inches of snow! There was no way to even get into the camp! So they called everyone and by 10 am we were out of luck. But we had already told the kids that we were going to go camping and they were pretty bummed about not being able to go so we planned a fun day instead.

First we went to Happy Hallow. We still hadn’t been there with Scott and the kids love it so much we decided to go. Since we always do the rides and we realized it would be a busy day, we just did playing and seeing animals, no rides.

[Keri thought pumping water was the coolest thing, since she was afraid of the animals at the petting zoo!]

[Niah on the other hand couldn’t get enough of the animals!]

[Not a super tall wall, but tall enough for the kids to have some wall climbing fun!]

[Hav’n a snack in a VERY small playhouse.]

[We walked through the Japanese Friendship Garden and rule #2 is “Don’t get in the water”. About 30 seconds after we were in the gardens poor Afton fell in the water. She HATES wearing wet clothes. But since we had no other choice she just dealt with it. We also broke rule #5 “Please be quiet to help maintain the serenity of the gardens”. We didn’t mean to but it just sorta happened….]

[Nothing like a good roll down a grassy hill!]

After we made it back to the car we headed home for the due library books and made a trip to the library. Then to the store for some hamburger meat and then homeward to start the fun night we had planned!
