CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Random things

on May 16, 2010

Here are some fun random things that happened in April:

Keri had her first hair cut. Unfortunately it wasn’t a planned hair cut. To make a long story short, Milo decided that Keri’s hair was in her eyes and to help her out he cut it. When Jaime noticed that Keri’s hair was cut I immediately turned to Niah. Then to Afton, then Alix. Finally I looked at Milo. He had that sheepish grin. I couldn’t help but laugh but still tried to make it clear that we don’t cut anything but paper. I’m still shocked that it was him. But I also feel bad I automatically thought it was Niah!

[If you can get past the cuteness of this picture you can kinda see how her hair falls in her face. This would be a “before” picture.]

[Can you tell from this picture what the “after” looks like?]

Speaking of hair…..Jaime had her first swim day of the season. She was invited by her friend Katie to go swimming at the local Cabana Club. She had so much fun. Unfortunately, I wasn’t home when she left and therefore was unable to verse her in the proper care of long hair in a swimming pool. When I got home from whatever it was I was doing (really I can’t remember), her hair looked like this…

[Can you tell how big the knot is?]

It was really late but I started picking at it. After 5 minutes with no luck I asked Jaime what she wanted to do. Have me pick at it for the next 2-3 hours, or cut it and be done. She was exhausted and it was already 9:30pm and she opted to cut it. I called my good friend Camille to borrow some hair cutting scissors and she made a few suggestions (mayo, oil, LOTS of conditioner). After another 20 minutes and still not much progress I called Camille back and she said to come and bring Jaime with me. So off I went.

[Here is how long Jaime’s hair has gotten.]

When we got to Camille’s Molly was there too and the two of them went at it. I was exhausted from my long day and so was Jaime, but these two went at it. About an hour and a half later it was all out and Jaime’s beautiful long hair was saved! Having good friends is priceless!

[Little combs, big helpers and lots of patience!]

[These two ladies rock! Thanks Camille and Molly. You saved me from doing something we may have regretted!]

Because we haven’t in such a long time, we invited a group of friends over for dinner. I made pot stickers and fried rice. It came out VERY good and I was glad we did it. This was the line up for ice cream. It just cracked me up how they all waited so patiently for their turn! I LOVE big parties!

Scott was gone for 4 days for a conference. It wasn’t far from home but because he was on call the whole time, he just stayed at the hotel for the 4 days. We had a ward party. It was themed as a 50’s diner. So fun. The young women wore roller skates and took our orders and delivered our food. So fun! Milo had 5 doctor appointments. And we did manage to get some school done too!

[Thanks Grandma Thompson for the poodle skirts. The girls looked SO cute in them. I wish I would have gotten some pictures, but I forgot the camera and since I was on my own that night, I didn’t stress it too much!]

[Milo almost looked more like a gangster than a 50’s dude. Oh well, we all had fun anyway!]

That looks like a really cool ward party! I was kinda excited about seeing Jaime with short hair, but yes, it probably would have been a little sad to see it all go– so good save!
