CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

It’s not often

on April 16, 2010

In our marriage, it’s not often that we make “big” purchases. Our first “big” purchase was on our second wedding anniversary when we bought new mattress for our bed. We went to every mattress store in the area, laid on them, bounced on them and price compared. By the end of business day we had the mattress of our dreams. All of our major purchases have gone like that. Each computer and car we have purchased has been a long drawn out process of what if’s and but’s (only other major purchases we have ever made…..). So 3 years ago when I started looking at my “dream” dinning room table, it was no surprise that it took me 3 years to finally purchase it.

I guess I was only seriously looking for 6 months but it still took a lot of thinking and negotiating and searching but we finally found it. A table that was reasonably cheap, will fit our entire family AND fits in our dinning room. As of now, we have a fairly small dinning room that can easily spill over into the living room and potentially block a major doorway to the kitchen.

So, on March 20 we became the proud owners of an 8 seater, counter height, square table with a built in lazy susan and a wine cabinet as the base/legs of the table. Unfortunately the wine cabinet hasn’t been much use, but the rest of it is lovely! We’ll briefly mention the unfortunate first table top that bubbled after a week…..but the guy was nice and replaced it free of charge and free of hassle. Keri has also so kindly taken a fork to the new table top. She is no longer allowed to have anything but plastic. And I won’t spend much time on the chair that Keri broke while she was trying to push back from the table and fell backwards (don’t worry, Keri is fine)! All in all the table is wonderful. It fits the family perfectly and everyone can now eat without eating on top of each other.

We sure do hope this table lasts as long as our mattresses have. Even longer would be nice…

[The chairs were the hardest most time consuming part of the whole process. We were sure glad when those 8 puppies were done!!]

[Alix was the first one to sit on a new chair]

[Cute!!]

[Table is all done!]

[All set up and fitting perfectly!]

[Notice we kept plastic on some of the chairs? Thought I’d play it safe….]

Now, if only I had an upright freezer in the garage……

You are so brave to have the cream colored seats. Apart from that I’m loving this table. The lazy susan is just too cool!

It looks awesome and fits great in that space! I’m so glad you finally got the table you wanted and that everyone fits! Every table needs a lazy susan in the middle.

I’ve heard that a wine rack could make a very cool shoe rack! Love your taste!

Beautiful table! I love the lazy susan! But I’m sad that the old one is gone. We got that as a wedding present almost 22 years ago and I liked knowing where is was….. well, not really. The new one looks GREAT!
