CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

I Love In-n-Out

on March 31, 2010

So we’ve been on In-n-Out tours before so this post may seem redundant. But it’s always just so much fun and there’s LOTS of yummy food and so I have to write about it.

On March 17 at 9am we had the opportunity to go on an in-n-out burger tour. This in-n-out tended to give more information whereas the other in-n-out that we went to relied more on wowing us with their equipment and letting us do it. I enjoyed learning some trivia about this restaurant. We learned things such as:

-Everyone who works at in-n-out started out as a register/cook/cleaner. From the managers to the IT people. They all started out as a minimum wage teenager.

-They only open a max of 15 stores a year. That way they can keep tighter control.

-They have their own cow farm where they butcher their own meat.

-They have their own bakery where one bun take 12 hours to make. Also, if you take one of their buns and smash it flatter than a pancake and then leave it alone for about 5 minutes, it bounces back to shape and you can hardly tell it was ever smooshed (I saw this with my own eyes!).

-They have decided to open up restaurants in Texas. But since Texas doesn’t do anything small, they aren’t going to either. They realized that they can’t just open 1 restaurant in Dallas. There would be mutiny. So they are going to open 5 restaurants in each of Texas’ major cities in the year 2011. But before they can do that, they are going to build and staff a bakery, butcher and distribution center. That way everything can be fresh and shipped within hours/days. I find that all VERY interesting.

Anyway, we had a good time. We even got done in enough time to pick up Afton and Keri from Camille and get to p.e. on time. It was a fabulous morning! The free meal was a nice touch too!!

[All lined up]

[Making french fries]

[Gett’n our free beverage!]

[We were so glad that our p.e. shirts were green since it was St. Patrick’s Day]

[Too cool!]

That sounds a lot like the Church… if the church were into fast food anyway! That’s pretty cool. We so wish they would open an In-N-Out in our neck of the woods!

    Sami,

I am so pleased to hear that they are going to open 5 In n Out Burgers here in Texas. It is very smart of them to open up multiple stores here because it is true, we do everything bigger in TX.
