CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Perks are Perfect

on March 30, 2010

So I’m sure I’ve mentioned enough times that Google doesn’t pay all that much, but their perks are perfect! They more than make up for what they lack in the monthly pay check (although the paycheck can’t be that bad since none of us are starving!).

Anyone ever heard of Cirque Du Soleil? Well I never had till Monday March 8. Scott called me and said that Google had bought out the whole 7pm show for that coming Wednesday and did I want to go. Since I had never heard of it before and was a bit skeptical I told him that I had a R.S. meeting that night and perhaps I should pass this one up (I mean it was the R.S. birthday dinner and all). He just laughed at me and said he was going regardless of whether I was going to join him. I told him to put me down and I’d think about it.

Later that day he sent me this link and I checked out the trailer. I got a little more excited. Then I mentioned it to a few people and they made a big deal about it and so I realized perhaps this was a good thing.

Wednesday March 10 came around and I was super excited. I met Scott at work early and we had dinner together (they opened some of the cafe’s early so that people could eat before heading out). We ate at a REALLY good mexican food place they have there.

[The best part about this place is that it’s buffet style and so you can make your burrito, taco salad, nachos etc… anyway you want to! Yuuuummmy!]

After a yummy Its-it we headed to the loading area and boarded a bus. The ride to San Jose was a good 20 minutes but it was fun to just chat with Scott and just enjoy the ride, neither of us actually driving.

[Pulling up to the event]

As soon as we got off the bus I was mesmerized! The tent itself was pretty amazing as where the pictures and such they had around (simple mind, simple pleasures!).

[Can you see me? It was so fun to be there.]

We found our seats and were impressed that the inside of the circus tent was actually quite intimate and really all seats were good seats. We could tell where the best seats were, but no complaints here.

[We got in trouble for this picture. Apparently there is NO picture taking inside the tent. Oops!]

So the show was amazing. Not sure how people can do those things to their bodies, but boy was it amazing. The strength and stamina blew my mind and I’m pretty sure there is no way I could do those things to my body. But eh, everyone is made different right?? :o)

[On the bus going home. What a FUN evening!!]

It was such a good evening. Not only the dinner and show but the time spent with Scott. What a fun date and we didn’t have to pay a dime! I realized that the opportunities that we have with Google perks would never happen to us otherwise. We really are blessed!
