CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Scott’s Birthday

on March 28, 2010

Well, just as it does every year, Scott’s birthday came on March 4. He turned 33 years old. I tried to make it great and I sure hope I did. I think he is finally starting to feel his age because when I asked him what kind of cake he wanted he said ‘Yellow cake with chocolate frosting and sprinkles.’ Ummm, ok. But I knew he was really longing for his childhood years when I asked him what he wanted for dinner and he said ‘Corn dogs and tator tots!’ Ok! Easy enough!!

Since I have a hard time knowing what to get someone for any occasion I brainstormed for weeks and came up with the idea of making a “card” out of stuff. Do you remember those? When I see you you make me SNICKER (and you put the candy bar there). So the kids help me come up with candy/food items and then I came up with a letter using those items and we went to work. It ended up being VERY long since I got so many things, but I think that made it even more fun! Scott had to take the van that day and so I sneaked over to the shuttle stop and put the card in the back of the van with instructions to look in the back of the van. That way he’d have time to read the card and enjoy it before he came home and got bombarded by the kids.

[Here’s his card/birthday present]

[Scott’s yearly gift of socks. He usually gets jeans and “g”‘s too but he didn’t need those this year!]

[Yummy!!]

[Easy but fun and good too!]

[Yep, there are 33 candles on that cake!]

[Keri wasn’t sure about all that fire, but she was NOT happy after Scott blew out all the candles and the dinning room went dark. Poor girl! Good thing her birthday is in the summer time!]

OK, so for some reason I had Scott’s birthday as April 4th. Sorry Scott!! Happy Birthday anyway. Now you and Frankie can complain together about how O-L-D you are!!

  2. Scott says:

I’m not old. I’m well aged. “Mellowed”, if you prefer. And, as with other quality items, I get better with age.
