CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

The rest of January

on March 21, 2010

The last time I wrote it was on January 25. Here is the rest of the story…..

Scott: He worked at the house the whole day (on January 25) and got the new water heater installed. He then spent the rest of the week working and then coming to the hospital in the evenings to give me a break and then going back home. He came Friday night and stayed in the hospital so I could go home. He was one busy tired guy but he never did complain. What a GREAT guy!!

Sami: I spent the week in the hospital getting more and more frustrated at the staff. But that always happens the longer you stay in the hospital. You tend to get a little antsy and just want to go home.

Jaime, Afton and Keri: Since both grandma and grandpa had to work the second week Jaime made some good money watching her little sisters for a few hours everyday. I think she came home with 50+ dollars. They got to go to a place in the desert where there are lots of interesting rock formations and such. I guess they had a lot of fun and were glad to get out of the house and have a sunny, non rainy day. The little girls helped grandma “weed” the flower garden (I think more flowers got pulled an weeds).

Alix and Niah: Had more adventures with the Layton’s. They got to do more sledding and movie watching and playing. They also got to do some pony rides and a dinosaur museum. From what I hear they had a pretty good time and were well behaved. Apparently Alix was VERY well behaved. I really appreciated that!

Alix and Niah arrived home on the air plane on January 30. I was so happy to see them I almost walked away without signing the release papers. I had 2 people stop me on our way out and say ‘Are those your girls? They were VERY well behaved and VERY delightful to have on the plane.’ I do have WONDERFUL children. We picked up dinner and then went straight to the hospital to see Milo. That was a joyous reunion. Then we went to the Eyre’s and retrieved our food that they stored for us while the house was being tented. That was nice to say hi and chat for a while. We got home just in time for grandma, grandpa and the girls to show up. That was another joyous reunion.

Our neighbors even joined the fun and helped unload cars and unpack suitcases and clean up. While I was gone my two favorite neighbors The Brack’s and the McKenzie’s came over and washed all the sheets and blankets and made beds and cleaned up. It was a nice welcome home present. After that we went to Jamba Juice to get Milo a special treat and then off to the hospital again. It was good to see Milo up and around and it gave the grandparents a happy smile too.

After coming home and putting all the tired girls to bed in their own beds the adults crashed too. It had been a VERY busy day. On January 31 grandma and grandpa left and went home and we all went off to church. About 11am I got the call that Milo could come home and so I bailed and by 2pm we were reunited as family once again. It was so nice to be in our own home all together again.

There’s the Reader’s Digest version of the last week of January. On to February…..
