CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

While he was sleeping

on January 25, 2010

While Milo’s been sleeping, a lot has been going on with all the other Thompson’s. I’ve just spent so much time reporting on Milo that I have not taken the time to report on everyone else. So here goes….

Scott: He worked in San Fran Jan 20-22. He reported staying busy and eating A LOT of wonderful food at some pretty amazing restaurants there. He had some good night sleeps in a great hotel room! He even got rained on a few times when he went out! Scott spent the weekend at the hospital so I could go home. He did a wonderful job and even kept up on Milo’s blog for me. Thanks babe!! Since Milo was suppose to wake up this morning Scott took the day off, but by 1 he realized he could get more done at home. So off he went. He is unloading the van, fixing the water heater and doing other odd jobs that will make coming home more pleasurable.

Sami: I stayed at the hospital and watched a comatose boy for 4 days. Even though talking to nurses and reassuring Milo that I was still here was nice, it did get a tad bit boring. I was also plagued with something by day 2.5. I now wear a mask for my safety and the safety of the patients. But I actually don’t mind the mask so much. It really does make me feel better physically and mentally. On the day of Milo’s surgery we also had the house tented for termites (well the owner did). I guess I missed the memo about the gas and electricity being turned off during the tenting. So my dreams of a hot shower and warm house were shattered as I walked into a 45 degree house and no hot water. As I went out into the garage to see if everything was in place I heard the heater making a ticking sound. So I went to unplug the thing so that it wouldn’t blow up and broke a prong off the cord. Bummer! Then I notice the water heater leaking. Well, thanks to some amazing neighbors and ward members I was showered, fed and warmed all weekend long. PG and E came out today and hooked up the gas and lit the pilots and we are up and running! Scott is at home trying to fix said broken water heater. Good luck to him!

Jaime, Afton and Keri: They spent the week indoors since it was raining every day AND the girls got sick. Afton even chucked! Too bad for her and for my in-laws!! Jaime has been very diligent with her school work and piano and is said to have discovered the Disney channel. Uh-Oh! Guess it’s the advantage of being at grandma and grandpa’s! Afton is her good ole self. Guess she is testing all waters and not wanting to do as she is asked. But at the same time being very sweet and lovable. Keri is not sleeping too well but is adjusting. She is home sick but is eating well and enjoying the attention from grandma and grandpa. Grandpa took all of last week off to stay with the girls. It has been said that he was ready to go back to work…..it’s less work to be there than at home! :o)

Alix and Niah: They are having fun in the snow! They’ve been to a hockey game, a model train exhibit, gone sledding, watched some new movies, and have done a lot of playing. They are keeping up with their school work and are giving Auntie Joy a really hard time!! :o) They even got to spend some time with Auntie Torry and Uncle Kevin (thanks guys). They are looking forward to their plane ride home in a few days. I hope, for the sakes of the stewardesses, that all goes well. Auntie Joy said that she has taken some pictures. I can’t wait to see them.

I’ll post some pictures from the girls’ adventures in another post. For now enjoy the newsie news of this post! :o)
