CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Christmas Parties

on December 22, 2009

Firs off I just have to say, I’m sure each company calls them Holiday Parties, but I will continue to call them Christmas Parties. Afterall that is why they are having them, because it is the Christmas season.

December 10-12 was the party week! On the 10 & 11 I watched kids so that my friends could go to their company Christmas Parties and then on the 12 Scott and I went to the Google Christmas party.

It was so FUN. Google knows how to do a party! This year it was held in San Francisco at the Palace Hotel. We drove to Google and then they had buses take us to San Fran. It was so nice to be a passenger and enjoy the view. It was even more fun to sit next to Scott for an hour and just enjoy eachother’s company and conversation.

[Taken by ourselves on the bus ride over……can you tell??]

Upon arrival we were amazed by this creation. It is made of ginger bread and frosting. Pretty cool huh??

We entered the party rooms and were instantly greeted by servers in white tuxes wanting to serve us some alcoholic beverage. We politely declined and headed straight for the or’douves instead. We had a great time looking around the 3 rooms belonging to our party and grabbing food here and there. The first hour was very quiet and slow as it was only a few people.

We walked into the “Vegas” room and watched a few people blow their pretend money on gambling. We opted not to gamble but had fun watching others. They had a photo booth in that room too which was SOOOO fun! I could have done that all night!

We finally headed over to a bar and asked what non alcoholic beverages they had. Then I asked what decaffeinated beverages they had. I finally settled on some cranberry juice. Just to spice things up I ordered ‘Cranberry juice please. Oh, and, uh, put it on the rocks.’ The lady just cracked up and asked if I wanted it shaken up too, just for good measure. Then a guy came over and put some lime in it. He said it added just the right amount of boost. It was hilarious. Guess you had to be there…..

[My “mixed” drink]

After our “fun” in the sin city room, we meandered over to the music room. They had dancing and a live band. That was SUPER fun to watch and sway to (my ankle was in no position to dance). We actually found a place to sit down for a few minutes, that was nice too.

The party was spectacular. The food wonderful. And the atmosphere just right for enjoying the company of the person I love most in the world. Scott is the best date I’ve ever had or will ever have and I’m lucky he’s mine. It was nice to just talk and laugh and have fun without a worry in the world. It was a superb night.

We left the party about 11. We barely made it to the bus (the door man ran the bus down for us!!). We made it back to Google by midnight and home by 12:30am. What a great night!!

[Ok, so they were serving mashed potatoes and gravy in champagne glasses! It cracked me up!]
