How ridiculous could one, or more, person(s) be?
A quote from a San Deigo News article:
http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/education/20080307-9999-1n7school.html
“A California Court of Appeals has ruled that unless they have a teaching certificate, parents have no legal right to home school their children.”
No legal right….. As a parent I have every legal right to teach my children at home, or home school them. From the very moment they are born they are being taught at home and it just floors me that someone would even make that statement. Either they have never had kids or they were too focused on their career to care about their kids. Whether a parent sends their chid(ren) to a public/private education is their decision, but they are still home schooling. There is homework to be done, chores to be done, piano practice….. There is ALWAYS teaching going on at home. With this new law, it would require ANYONE who decides to conceive, to have a teaching credential before they could have their child. What a ridiculous idea. How are the courts and the people I elect to protect my freedoms, protecting my freedoms by saying I have no right to teach my children. This has got to be the most outrageous thing I’ve ever heard.
So what does this mean for you? Is this ruling just for one city/county or for the whole state? This is pretty ridiculous if you ask me…there has got to be thousands of parents upset about it right now!
