We had a good day today. I got to the hospital about 7 am and relieved Scott of his duty. Scott did a great job taking care of Milo, finding out the scoop on the other patients and giving the nurses a hard time. Just shortly after he left Milo woke up not happy at all. He was in a lot of pain. They gave him some morphine to stop the pain instantly and then started him on round the clock Tylenol so that he would not have to suffer that level of pain again. He ate Cheerios this morning and drank some water. He did end up going potty by himself (yay!!). He had a sponge bath and teeth brushing before his first stroll around the hospital. He did all that before 10am!!
I had arranged with Scott to bring the girls to the hospital. Milo and I met up with everyone about 10:30. He had a great time visiting with his sisters. Jaime and Alix took turns pushing him to keep him moving and not board. We spent about 30 minutes together as a family. It was nice and the girls seemed to enjoy it.
Once we got back to bed Milo was up and ready. We did some school work (he insisted, really!). Played cars. Read books. Milo watched a Bob the Builder episode. We went on another walk. Interesting story though. Right before I left I asked the nurse if any doctors would be around to see us. She said no. So I said I’d be back in a little while. About 45 minutes later we returned and the nurses were all laughing. Apparently as soon as I left Dr. Sun’s right hand nurse had come in to adjust Milo’s shunt and nobody could find me. I was known as the mom who went a-wall!! They even paged me over the intercom. But I never listen to those things anyway!
After the adjustment we did more school, more reading, more car playing. He got a VERY cool car from his nurse. It goes backwards and forwards all by itself. So we went on another walk to try out his new car. We went outside to a bench. I sat him on one end and I sat on the other and we let the car go between us. It didn’t last too long though, he still can’t support his head/neck very well.
Once we got back to his bed we played a little bit more, then he ate dinner while I read to him. Then Gayle came to visit. That was nice. She brought me a yummy sandwich, potato salad and a brownie from her restaurant. She brought Milo a brownie too. We so appreciated it. We visited for about an hour and then Gayle left. Milo then went potty again, had another sponge bath and teeth brushing and new jammies. He was all ready for bed. Scott came in and he was so excited to see his daddy, all thoughts of sleeping left his mind. I kissed both my boys goodnight and left. As soon as I got into the hallway I realized that Scott had the car keys so I turned around to get them. As I leaned my head in to ask for the keys I notice Scott and Milo playing Frisbee together and the nurses cheering them on. What fun to have such a great dad! I hope those boys get some sleep tonight!
We love you all. There is talk of Milo coming home tomorrow. We shall see what happens tonight. More tomorrow for sure.
Glad to hear Milo is doing well. Toby asked today if he is still going to be able to play swords. :) I assured him that as soon as Milo is feeling better he could. It sounds like he is off to a good start with the frisbee in the hospital!
Keep the updates coming!! We are cheering you on Milo!! We love you!
