CHEAPER BY THE HALF DOZEN

Dance Recital Part 2

on June 21, 2009

[another group shot]

We prayed about it a lot for the next two days. Thursday was picture day and Friday June 5 was the first performance. I went to the Friday night performance with Alix and two of Jaime’s friends, Miranda and Jessie.

It was a wonderful performance. Very well done. Unfortunately we had things to do during the Belly Dancer performances so we missed both of those….. :0)

BUT……when we first walked in on Friday night, the other mom that went with me to talk to Mrs. Gentry told me that she heard that Mrs. Gentry had changed the finale but she didn’t know how she had changed it. Well the praying worked. She put the belly dancers first, they had their 15 seconds of fame and then all the cute girls came out and covered them right up. It was AWESOME! Jaime right away realized how prayer had helped and was glad that she was able to help make the recital that much better. I’ve been very grateful for that experience and am so glad that we could have it.

[In case you hadn’t noticed, the girls were suppose to be dressed as American Indians. They did their ballet dance to the Pocahontas song ‘Colors of the Wind’]

After the performance we had planned on going out for ice cream. At the last minute we invited a friend from Jaime’s dance class to come too. So the 5 little girls had a great time eating ice cream and playing together and I had fun getting to know one of the moms a little better.

[Jaime’s friend Ilish went to ice cream too. Her and Miranda go to school together so it was fun for all.]

You’d think that after 5 years of dancing with the same people I’d know all the mom’s by now, but I don’t. I’m usually too busy taking care of the other kids or, mostly this year, just not there at all. Scott, Milo and Niah got to go to the Saturday June 6 performance. Again, it was very well done. It was also nice to have the recital over. One less thing to “stress” about!

After getting home we spent the rest of the day getting ready for camping. We cleaned the garage and the van and did all the grocery shopping. We were not quite ready when we went to bed on Saturday night, but we weren’t too worried.

Sunday June 7 we had the Gilstrap family over for dinner. That was fun. They have been in our ward for a while but we felt like having them over again. We joked because Carrie is pregnant with number two and the last time we had them over she was about as far along with her number one. We really did have a great time and were glad they came over. We went to bed knowing that the next day was going to be busy getting everything ready to leave for camp.

Aaahhh, relief! Glad to hear all those that attended the recital were spared from the jiggly grand finale.
