Wednesday June 3 was another busy day. Milo had two doctor appointments in Oakland. Camille took care of Jaime and Afton for me. That way Jaime could still go to piano. The other girls went to Kyle’s house. Milo had a CT scan first and then an ear tube check up after that. Ever since they put tubes in Milo’s ears he has been complaining a lot about head aches (one of the things that the doctors keep asking me if Milo experiences). At first it seemed as though he was only complaining about them when he as asked to do something (i.e unload the dishwasher), but then they became more frequent. So I was hoping the ENT would say it had something to do with the ear tubes. He said no. So we marked it in his chart to have all his doctors take a look at his CT scan asap and we left. As soon as we got back home with all the girls I made a quick dinner and then Jaime and I had to be up at Ohlone for Jaime’s dance recital rehearsal.

That went well and Jaime did GREAT. I am becoming a little soft…… When the curtain opened on Jaime’s first number she was smiling and looked so confident that I started to cry! She just looked so grown up and so sure of herself up there, it was a little too much for this mom who wants to keep my children young forever. It’s a hard world out there and I want them to be strong, strong enough to resist the temptations of the world and rely soley on the mercies of God. I know she will do a great job, but it’s also on my shoulders to teach her and rear her to know God and his tender mercies. What a task!

Speaking of which……every year there is always an adult class that performs during our dance recital. They usually only have a couple of performances mixed in with Mrs. Gentry’s 20 performances. One year it was old ladies doing hula dancing. Another year it was Salsa dancers. Well apparently this year we got to have the Belly Dancers. I didn’t realize this till the dress rehearsal during the Finale. The hardest part was that they didn’t bring the Belly Dancers out first, they brought them out almost last and they covered up all the cute little girls in their cute outfits. You could see NOTHING else on stage but these……belly’s!! It was just not right. And so, being the quiet person that I am, I blurt out ‘Oh that is just so inappropriate’. The 5 other mom’s and one dad around me agreed whole heartedly. So I suggested we go tell Mrs. Gentry our thoughts.
Unfortunately only one mom actually went with me. But we went none the less. After pleading our case to Mrs. Gentry, she looks at Jaime and says ‘make sure you pin your hairpiece on during the performance so it doesn’t fall off’ and walks away. The other mom and I just look at each other dumbfounded! I’m pretty sure I’ve never been blown off like that in my entire life. It was a pretty hard blow. After getting in the car Jaime asks what we can do. I told her all we could do now is pray that her teacher would have a change of heart and put the Belly Dancers first in the finale so that they end up in the back and all the cute little girls end up in the front. I told Jaime we’d have to pray about it at each prayer for the next 2 days.
You’re killin’ me Sami! What happens? Where’s part 2? Does an innocent young dance student get accidentally booty-bumped off the stage? Is Mrs. Gentry a cold-hearted old lady who doesn’t care what the Moms think? Did she change her mind and spare all those present from the jiggly mid-sections? Come on, inquiring minds want to know!
Nice background update! Yes, I echo Camille’s sentiments, don’t keep us waiting too long! And what was the result of Milo’s CT scan?
I love the suspense…… Perhaps I’ll wait a few days for part 2…. :0)
