Earlier this year Scott went out to the garage to clean off his work bench and noticed it was WET. He looked up and noticed that the ceiling above his work bench was molding. He cut out the moldy part and realized the water was coming from the upstairs bathroom toilet. It didn’t look like it would hold out much longer. Now, we had noticed that the upstairs bathroom linoleum was looking discolored. The owner came and looked at it with a contractor friend and said everything was fine, it was just discolored. Apparently the toilet was linking and causing all kinds of damage. So started the bathroom remodel.
[Tearing everything out. We started with the toilet, obviously!!]
[We weren’t sure the sub flooring was going to survive.]
Scott likes to learn new things so he took on the challenge. Had he had more support he might have gotten it done sooner. But alas here we are 3 months later and I’m finally writing the IT’S DONE post.
So, after about 100 trips to Lowes/Home Depot/OSH Scott is finally done with the bathroom. The kids took baths/showers in there yesterday (Saturday May 2). It has been a rough road for him. Vanities not fitting, having to tweak the plumbing, broken mirror, toilet paper holder, side splash, cabinet over toilet, new door frame…..all unexpected “bumps” in the road that resulted in more trips to the store than should be allowed! But we are done and happy and it looks great. Anyone wanting to come use it is more than welcome to!
[Can you tell how beautiful it is and how good of a job Scott did??]
[My homemade towel rack, since I couldn’t find one I liked.]
Thanks to everyone who helped Scott get this done. Our neighbor for giving supplies and tools. Bryon Dalrymple for supplies, time, advice, tools…… Milo for being there to support and help his dad. The girls for staying out of the way!! :0)
Ah, home improvement projects! They always scare me because they take WAY too much time and money!! It does look like Scott did a great job though. Hmm, I think we have some projects here that he and Frankie could knock out…
Looks awesome Scott!! I bet it feels good to be done. You’re a brave man too. I think Dave would look at me like I was sick in the head if I suggested he learned as he went on a bathroom remodel. Kudos to you.
I am rather pleased with how it came out. Of course, I know all the faults as well, and it’s hard not to notice them. Oh well, I’ll do better with the next remodel.
Thanks, Sami for giving me a chance to learn something new.
