It’s been a busy morning

Milos feeding tube and “puke tube” were in the same place, so everything that went in came right back out.  Eventually, all the right people with the right letters behind their names (DDS, MD, RN, BSN, etc) decided to remove the feeding tube and give him IV nutrition.  I guess he wasn’t getting much from the feeding tube anyway.

The oral surgeons, Dr. Hutchinson and Dr. Indresano, came in this morning and made the final turns on his appliance and completed the distraction.  Now the appliance can not move for three weeks.  It’s going to be a boring month for our active 6 year old.  They also took the packing out of his nose.  Even though Milo is hooked up to a breathing machine, he seems to be enjoying not having his nose full of gauze.

It’s amazing to me how, even though Milo is totally sedated, he still has some notion of what’s going on.  It’s very apparent to me that though his body is sedated, his spirit is not.

And my final observation.  Nurses matter.  The right nurse can make a hospital seem like heaven.  I’m very grateful that Milo has had such great nurses.  His current nurse has been a greater advocate for Milo’s comfort and care than I could have possibly wished for.

Until next time…

Thank you for the continuous updates Thompson parents. Now I know where Milo gets his amazing spirit from. We are humbled by this brave little boy.

We miss you and hope to see you soon. David from down the street keeps coming to our house to call on Milo. He has come by three times today, asking if Milo is home yet;-)

    Love Roberta & Family

Milo is quite a courageous little boy. I am glad that he is surrounded by people who love him so much and take such good care (and looks like nurses are no exception). Tell him that Laurent is waiting for him as I am desperate without him helping me with the garage/playroom project.

    Thinking about you all.

Yeah for great nurses, what a blessing. We are continually mindful of you and you are in our prayers. I’m more and more impressed with Milo! Keep it up buddy, Dallin is anxious to have you over!

So true, nurses are worth their weight in gold. Until you’ve experienced the care of a great nurse in an emergency situation, it is hard to understand how noble a profession it is. Praise God for Milo’s wonderful nurses!
