All washed up

Milo had a little bit of a rough early evening yesterday.  His temperature kept going up.  He wasn’t urinating and his blood pressure was high.  No amount of medication seemed to help.  The ICU dr ordered some Lasix to help with his urinating.  After about an hour there still was no output.  The doctor came over and pushed on his tummy.  “My goodness, this kids bladder is full up to his chin!”  She pushed a little more and it came gushing out!  He filled the whole catheter bag.  Apparently there was a clog in the line and when she forced the urine through it forced the clog through too.  After filling the bag 1 1/2 times he slowed down but continued to have good and normal out put the rest of the night.  His temperature finally broke, his blood pressure is nice and low and he looks mighty comfy!  Because of the Lasix the swelling in his head went down considerably during the night too.  You can actually make out the bridge of his nose.  What a good boy he is!!

His nurses last night gave him his first bath early this morning.  He looks so nice.  Less bloody and they positioned him in such a way he looks very happy.

His lungs are still clear and everything else looks mighty fine.  As of last night they had pulled out his bones 1 cm and they have 1 cm to go.  They should be done by Sunday.  However, they are in a touchy area now.  They would like to keep him in this state until his distraction is done, but keeping a body in this state for too long can be very damaging.  So they are weighing all options and are going to decide what to do by tonight.

As always, here are a few pictures!

Thanks so much for the updates. My prayers are with you. This is scary but very exciting. He is such a great kid. (Come to think of it, your great parents as well.) How can he be anything else? Keep up the positive attitude. Love ya, Cindy

Milo looks great. Dylan (on his own) announces ever meal that he’s fasting for Milo. He fasts for about 5 minutes and then joins us! Sweet boys.

On a side note, that bladder thing has happened to me every birth. I think the kink is internal though. Got to love big heads!

Kevin wants to know how they keep him “asleep” for days. Is he considered heavily sedated or in an induced coma? Educate us.

One more question. This might be a dumb one. Do you expect Milo to look a lot different when the swelling goes down? I mean different from surgery. Will it be a significant facial change, or will it be subtle? Will he still look like himself?
