Well, Milo is in ICU with his own bed and monitors and nurses and parents. He seems very well equipped. Too equipped if you ask me! About an hour and a half after surgery we got to see him. It was a little bit of a shock. We had seen pictures and we had been told, but until you see it…. He is doing well though. He does have a fever but they say that is VERY normal after surgery and to not worry. He did receive two units of blood during surgery. He is being fully sedated and has his breathing tube in still. They will keep him like that for at least 24 hours. They will see how he is progressing and decide as things progress.
We have already met parents whose children have worse things going on than Milo does so we continue to count our many blessings. Thank you for helping us count them. If you are interested in seeing pictures I have posted them below.
When Milo was getting ready for his first surgery they suggested we make a scrapbook for him. We did and it has been the best thing ever. We make one each time, that is why we take so many pictures.
[Can you see all those medication monitors? They have 6 different monitors JUST administering medication. Many of which my mom had during her hospital stay. De’javu!!]
[He still has all the breathing tubes and such. His eyes are stitched closed to prevent injury while his face swells from the surgery.]
[A different angle and a bit closer. There is a lot of blood going on, but they reassured us there is nothing to worry about. We feel good about it all.]
[They have those wraps on his legs to help the circulation to his legs.]
My thankful prayers today are as heartfelt as my asking prayers have been. We, as a family, are very blessed.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with all of you! – Neal, Tamia, Houston and Nielson
Milo, when you read this I want you to know that you are the toughest kid I know. I am so proud of you. Torry and I love you very much!!!
PS. Chicks dig scars
Milo, for some reason today I had a memory of being at the park with you and your mom when you were only a couple of weeks old. That was about 6 years ago. Yet somehow you seem older and braver that me. It probably has something to do with you having 2 amazing parents. I always remember that your mom (and dad and sisters) are faithful and courageous. I’ll bet your mom right now is giving service to some other mom in the hospital, becuase she ALWAYS things of others. I feel blessed to know both of you.
