First Full Day at Home

Well, Milo seemed to have a good first full day at home on Monday February 1.  He slept well Sunday night and didn’t wake up this morning till 8am.  He ate breakfast with us at the table and he took a bath.  He really enjoyed that.  He stayed in there 30+ minutes. After getting dressed and resting for a few minutes on the couch he went outside and played in the beautiful sunshine with his new remote control car that he got from nurse Lorelie at the hospital.  After 45 minutes of that he came back in and rested on the couch.  He watched a movie on our little DVD player while the other kids did school and naps.

He started to get a little cranky around 3pm.  But we fed him a snack and went for a walk.  Then Toby showed up about 4 and that brightened his afternoon.  After the Bennett’s left, we did FHE.  For the activity we made ghosts out of paper and Milo got really into that.  He seemed to enjoy using his fine motor skills and creating something on his own.  After dinner (thanks Roberta, he LOVED the salmon) he just chilled a little bit more and then off to slumber land.  What a happy boy he has been today.

We did have a few episodes of unhappiness.  But as soon as we distracted him with something else, he was fine.  I think his body is still trying to metabolize after all those medications he was getting in the hospital.  It has been 24 hours since he has gotten anything and so I think we are on the home stretch.  They usually say 24-48 hours for the body to completely metabolize.  By Wednesday we should be seeing more of the Milo personality coming through more often.  We sure do love this boy and are so happy to have him home, to see him laugh and to be uplifted by his sweet spirit.

[Playing a video game.  It was good to see him get into the game.  I like to see my boy being himself]

[Playing in the beautiful sunshine as a boy should!]

Thank you for the update. We have been quite worried what the first day at home would bring. He looks good and it was probably a blessing to him to get into a more normal routine, especially to get outdoors. I am sure a friend visiting was a welcome relief to nurses and doctors that he has had as companions for the past two weeks. Milo, be happy and keep on getting better
