This is just a quickie.

They are switching up Milos medications to, as one doctor put it, get ready to bring Milo in for a landing.  They are lowering dosages or, in some cases, changing them.  The idea is that when they remove the breathing tube on Monday, they can cut some of the meds at the same time and he’ll wake up and be able to breath on his own. It’s been a busy morning

Milos feeding tube and “puke tube” were in the same place, so everything that went in came right back out.  Eventually, all the right people with the right letters behind their names (DDS, MD, RN, BSN, etc) decided to remove the feeding tube and give him IV nutrition.  I guess he wasn’t getting much from the feeding tube anyway. Tonights bed time routine

Wow, a lot has happened since I came on duty.

I stepped out to go potty and talk to Sami, and while I was gone, Milo had a coughing fit, spit bile all over his bed, and increased his heart rate and temperature.  By the time I got back, the sheets where changed, he had been administered Tylenol for the fever and Pulmonary was on site to “suck his lungs”.  Geez, you leave for a few minutes, and everything changes. Sami went home to get some rest, so now I’m here to stare at our kid while he sleeps.  I’ll be here all weekend.  I’ll do my best to keep you all updated, but Sami has set the bar pretty high.

Tonight during his nightly distraction Dr. Hutchinson took off Milo’s head bandage.  I had gone downstairs and when I came back up I could tell right away that something was different but it took me a moment to realize.  He looks so different already! (more…)

All washed up

Milo had a little bit of a rough early evening yesterday.  His temperature kept going up.  He wasn’t urinating and his blood pressure was high.  No amount of medication seemed to help.  (more…)
